NASCAR Hall of Fame

Posted in Gallery, NASCAR, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on May 11, 2010 by autoracingpower

Opening on May 11th, the NASCAR Hall of Fame coincides with this month’s NASCAR races at the nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway, as the hall is in Charlotte.  But, this hall is more than a hall, it is an interactive experience with striking technology. Upon entering you are whisked into a room with a multitude of high-def television screens showing you a 12-minute NASCAR history. And, this Hall of Fame has more than just busts of your favorite drivers, like the rebuilt moonshine of Junior Johnson.

This $195 million dollar facility charges $19.95 admissions for adults and gives discounts for children 12 and younger, seniors 60 and older and military members—with a portion of profits going to NASCAR.There are also yearly memberships available, which would be beneficial since exhibits will change and new inductees are inaugurated each year. The Toyota Formula 1 team has released their new car for the 2009 season with high expectations. Its called the TF109 and Toyota and its fans are hoping this is the car that will finally bring them a Formula 1 victory. The car looks very similar to Ferrari’s new F1 Car, the F60, which was recently unveiled. The teams are forced to conform to the new regulations mandated by the FIA this year. Many of the new regulations are intended to make passing easier and create a more level playing field for the smaller F1 teams. Formula 1 2009 Profile: Robert Rubica

kubicaName: Robert Kubica
Hometown: Kraków, Poland

2008 Stats:

Team: BMW Sauber
Car: BMW Sauber F1.08
Wins: 1
Podiums: 7
Pole Positions: 1
Fastest Laps: 0
Championship Points: 75
Championship Position: 4th

Leading the Formula 1 Championship after seven races was Polish driver Robert Kubica. He eventually finished the season in fourth place, but his emergence as a Formula 1 contender was firmly established. Kubica had a very solid year with few mistakes. One notable mistake was his spin out in the rain at Silverstone which caused him to lose third place. Considering the amount of mistakes by other title contending drivers made in 2008 (Hamilton) Kubica had a very clean season.

Kubica’s his drop in the standings was due to his car’s inability to compete with F1 heavy-weights McLaren and Ferrari, and not his driving ability. As BMW’s pace declined relative to McLaren and Ferrari, Kubica made his frustration clear and began to criticize the team publicly. Kubica believed that the team’s focus was heavily devoted to his teammate Nick Heidfeld’s qualifying troubles, which hurt the Pole’s title chase. This allegation is most likely overstated, but BMW Sauber should give Kubica all the attention he deserves if they have any type of Championship aspirations in 2009.

Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and alleged tax cheat Helio Castroneves is trying to postpone his March trial so he can continue to race. Castroneves wishes to move the trial to November. His employer, Penske Racing, is also asking for his trial to be pushed to the end of the racing season. Penske may need to select another driver for the 2009 IndyCar Series if Castroneves goes to trial in March. If Helio isn’t racing he will have tons of time to spend on the dance floor perfecting his craft.

Helio won the 2007 Dancing with the Stars competition with his gorgeous dance partner Julianne Hough.
