Formula 1 Point System Change

The new 2010 points spread for Formula increases the difference between 1st and 2nd place points. Last year the difference between 1st place and 2nd place was a mere 2 points. Currently, it has been altered so 1st leads by 7 points.

This increase will hopefully serve as an incentive for the racer in second place to try and up it a bit more and take home 1st.  This is the second change to the points system made in months.  And, the reason behind this change is to motivate the drivers.

10 races will receive the following points:

1st – 25 points

2nd – 18 points

3rd – 15 points

4th – 12 points

5th – 10 points

6th – 8 points

7th – 6 points

8th – 4 points

9th – 2 points

10th – 1 point
